Our beautiful El Paso parks are being kept nice and clean. Our city employees are doing a wonderful job. The proof is in how many people are actually visiting our neighborhood parks on a daily basis.
Early mornings our daily walkers are out and about with their jogging suits, sweating away unwanted pounds or our runners keeping up with their daily mile after mile runs. Also, who can leave out our dog walkers (thank you for obeying the leash law).
Then there are the brave families who pack up their vehicles full of food, water and kids just to enjoy a long lazy afternoon in the park. Under the trees they are waiting for any slight breeze to cool them off.
Last but not least, the parks have surprisingly become the meeting ground for El Paso teens in the evenings. Its amazing what distance they walk to get to any park. They walk a good mile to mile in a half to meet friends, or play games. Football, soccer, or even tennis matches are going on and on day after day.
These parks are made for us, to socialize and enjoy ourselves, which is exactly what they are being used for. Keep it up, fellow El Pasoans, lets keep on moving and enjoying all our free entertainment!
Ascarate Park
Ascarate Park is a huge park in El Paso. It is great for fishing, playing outdoor games, and picnics. There is a big swimming pool in the center of the park, which is open in summer. A large golf course makes the park an attraction for everyone who likes playing golf. There are also basketball and tennis courts on the territory of the park. Ascarate Park hosts various events in town.
Memorial Park
The park is popular for its public library and the peaceful area with active and playful groundhogs. It is surrounded by beautiful houses and seems to be detached from the city, even though it is located almost in the center of it.
Art in the Park is organized in the Memorial Park twice a year. During the event, different vendors from El Paso sell their handmade crafts and souvenirs. There is also a large book sale.
Grandview Park
The park is great for kids of all ages. It has swings, playgrounds and sandboxes for the little ones, and a nice basketball court for teanagers. The place is located in a quiet residential area at the foot of the mountain, and is often crowded during evening hours.

We were at ascarate park one day after easter and it was horrible. The restrooms were not working and the trees barely had leaves. I know the trees have to be trimmed to grow bigger but they exagerated. come one it is a park the least you expect it is shades from trees
